A test to confirm if you are or have been infected with Varicella zoster virus (VZV).
This test confirms if you are or have been infected with Varicella-zoster virus, also known as human herpesvirus 3. It causes chickenpox (varicella) commonly affecting children and young adults, and shingles (herpes zoster) in adults but rarely in children. Sometimes, after a primary infection with VZV (chickenpox) the virus can lie dormant in the organism and many years after the person has recovered from initial chickenpox infection, it can reactivate to cause shingles.
The Chickenpox (VZV) test confirms infection by identifying antibodies produced by your immune system in response to either a VZV infection or vaccine.
This test does not require fasting.
