The test measures the level of Ferritin, a protein that stores iron inside the body's cells. The test is also an indirect way to measure iron levels in blood.

Useful test in the diagnosis of hypochromic, microcytic anemias. Decreased in iron deficiency anemia and increased in iron overload.
