The test detects the human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) in women urine, produced by pregnant woman's placenta.
Clinical Significance: This urine test is specific for hCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) beta subunit and offers sensitivity necessary to detect pregnancy as early as ten days post conception. HCG is also often called the pregnancy hormone because it is made by cells formed in the placenta.
